‘Educating for a Digital Future in Medicine and Healthcare’

Wed, Apr 14 - Thu, Apr 15 (7:00pm - 1:00am)
Online

Description

Bringing together healthcare professionals from different disciplines, educators, AI technologists and those involved in clinical data governance.

Digital technologies and AI provide promising solutions to improve healthcare services, however, many of these technologies are still to be adopted and there are likely unforeseen barriers to accepting these technologies.

To educate for a digital future and to improve the ‘readiness’ for using these technologies, perhaps an AI and/or digital health awareness training could be embedded into undergraduate medicine and health science degree programmes. If this is possible, then what would the curriculum look like? And would AI informed clinicians be more likely to use these technologies?

Being more ‘AI aware’ could give professionals the tools to develop their AI knowledge and learn more about how they are developed and tested. This would help professionals calibrate their trust in using these technologies for different clinical scenarios and to mitigate against ‘automation bias’.

This event brings together healthcare professionals from different disciplines, educators, AI technologists and those involved in clinical data governance to present ideas and to address the question of – ‘What do healthcare professionals need to know about AI and digital health?’.
